WINTER WONDERLAND TAG

Its Christmas time in the city, and so in the spirit of the season here is my Winter Wonderland Tag.

1. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT WINTER?

I love being able to wear an oversize sweater, tights, and fuzzy socks; while curling up with a warm drink after a fresh snowfall in the city. Everything is so quiet and peaceful, and New York looks a scene straight out a movie.

2. SCARVES OR BEANIES?

Scarves. All day, every day.  I’ll only wear hats if the temperature is below zero and not wearing one could result in death. That, or my hair looks a hot mess.

3. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOLIDAY MOVIE?

Love Actually. Because as unrealistic as it is that movie always makes me smile at the end.

4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE NAIL POLISH?

I’m all the dark reds and plums. Particularly Essie’s berry naughty, no more film, and sole mate.

5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE STARBUCKS DRINK?

Currently the Holiday Spice Flat White. Yum!

6. WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 3 WINTER ESSENTIALS?

Oversize sweater, combat boots, oversize scarf

7. NAME ONE ITEM ON YOUR WISH LIST THIS YEAR?

Steve Madden Troopa Combat Boots. I predict they’ll be in my closet very very soon.

8. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE HOLIDAY SONG?

As a kid I couldn’t get enough of The Chipmunk Song Christmas Don’t Be Late, but now Johnnyswim’s What Are You Doing New Years Eve, has given those chipmunks a run for their money.

            

9. DID YOU GO BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING?

Not my thing, unless it involves online shopping. I have too much New York in me to deal with some idiot trying to push me for a sale. I’m not having that.

10. WHAT IS YOUR MUST HAVE WINTER LIP PRODUCT?

Blistex Lip Medex, but that’s all year round. Ain’t nobody got time for chapped lips.

11. WILL YOU BE ROCKING AN UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER THIS YEAR?

Hmmm, not this year.

12. HAVE YOU EVER HAD A WHITE CHRISTMAS WHERE YOU LIVE?

Yup, nothing beats New York covered in fresh snow, especially around Christmas time.

13. FAVORITE WINTER CANDLE SCENT?

Vanilla and Brown Sugar candles.

14. HOW WILL YOU BE CELEBRATING THIS HOLIDAY?

In sweats with family.

Twenty One

I’ve never been the type of person who was big on numerology. It’s difficult for me to believe that numbers have a way of guiding or foreseeing your future. This is largely because I like to think of myself as a logical person, and truly believe there’s a reason behind everything, or that there should be. With that said, I can’t overlook the excitement I feel when the digits of my birthday pop up around me, as the time, or an address, or other random moments.

So what’s my point? Well, when I was thinking about when I should launch my blog, I couldn’t let go of the number 21. I’ve always been fond of the number, not surprisingly because my birthday is on the 21^st of January, but apart from that I wondered if there was any other meaning behind. Like all things all on the internet, numerology searches can tell you exactly what you want read, so I was happy among all the doomsday explanations, to find a positive meaning for the number 21.

It’s been said that individuals with birth date number 21 are drawn to creativity, and embrace relationships that promote it. Other traits attributed to 21 are reliability, optimism, inspiration and diplomacy. Nice right?

I’d like to think that I possess those traits in the best way possible; and so what better time, than to officially launch my blog today, on the 21^st of December, as an expression of my creative mind.

Blogging…Why Now?

There is a common writing prompt in the publishing world, where authors explain why they write. As you would expect the reasons vary widely, but a common theme in all their responses is, they had a story to tell. And I am no different.

If we’re really going to get into this, the real question isn’t why I write, but I’m not writing now. Like many others, it’s easy for me to make excuses and even easier for me to talk myself out of doing something. “I’ll get back to it later” is a sure fire way for me to never get anything done, but it’s a phrase I repeat to myself often.

My perfected skill in procrastination constantly prevents me from moving forward. But we can go into that in a later post. At the end of the day though, the only person I am hurting is myself; cliché, but true.

So, why start blogging, and why now. Well...why not. I’ve got some stories to tell myself. And rather than spend the next decade procrastinating like the last, I figured it’s time to get moving.

You could consider me to be an avid learner; a constant seeker of a good story, but visual and textual. My goal with this blog, isn’t just to share random bits of my life, but the things I’ve noticed, experienced, and much more.

I hope you enjoy these glimpses into my world, as I much as I’ll enjoy sharing them with you.
